A LEAF EV Clinic, held in Milton Keynes, from Tuesday 29th to Thursday 31st March, aimed at pointing out the downfalls of addiction to the ICE car, driving home the message that these cars can have a detrimental effect on drivers’ health, family life and their wallet.
After refueling at a petrol station, your average person may stock up with a pasty, crisps, a drink, chocolate and a bag of sweets (about 1,700 calories). By visiting a charging point instead, it was estimated that in excess of 88,000 calories could be saved over the year.
It costs about 20 minutes a week to fill up at the petrol station, adding up to 17 hours in the year. Therefore, refueling at a charging point or plugging in a Nissan LEAF at home could give you the equivalent of an extra “waking day” with your family. As if that wasn’t enough, your wallet will be thanking you too.

Journalists were offered the opportunity to hop into a LEAF and drive it inside the shopping centre, before exiting and taking it on a 35-40 mile trip around Milton Keynes.
With 50 EV charging points already up and running, Milton Keynes is one of the first three places in the UK to be funded under the Government Plugged in Places scheme. Over the next three years, this figure is set to triple. With a ‘swipe card’, costing a meer £50 for a yearly membership, people will be able to charge their vehicles with free electricity, as well as benefitting from free parking in specific bays.
Lots of positive feedback was received from journalists and the public on our Twitter feed @UKNissanLEAF.
